Sell print-on-demand products with Printify

Printify prints your artwork on T-shirts, mugs, posters and more each time someone buys, and ships it for you. Connect it to Stratafold once and every print-on-demand product you publish here becomes a Printify product, which Printify lists in the shop it’s connected to — Etsy, Shopify and others.

Before you start

• A Printify account with a shop connected to your store. In Printify, check My stores.
• Owner or admin in your Stratafold workspace.

1. Get an access token from Printify

1. In Printify, open My Profile and go to Connections.
2. Generate a token named Stratafold with access to shops, catalog, products and uploads.
3. Copy it straight away — Printify shows it only once. It lasts a year.

The token lets Stratafold make products in your Printify account, so treat it like a password and paste it only into Stratafold.

2. Connect Printify

1. In Stratafold, go to Settings → Website and find Sell print-on-demand through Printify.
2. Paste the token and choose Continue.
3. Under Which Printify shop?, choose the one connected to your store.
4. Under What should become Printify products?, keep Print-on-demand product ticked. If you don’t have one yet it says New: Stratafold sets it up for you, with a name, the design, a description and a price.
5. Choose Connect Printify.

3. Choose what you print on

Straight after connecting, Stratafold asks What do you print on? — from Printify’s own catalog, so you never start from a product you already made.

1. Type what you want to print on — T-shirt, hoodie, mug, poster — and choose Search.
2. Choose the item, then Who prints it? Printers differ in price, speed and where they ship from; Printify’s catalog compares them.
3. Tick the Colours and Sizes buyers can choose from — up to 100 combinations.
4. Give it a name you’ll recognise under Call it, and choose Add to what I print on.

Add as many as you sell — a tee, a tank top, a mug. Each becomes a choice in the Printed on box of your products. Nothing is sent to Printify until there is at least one.

4. Publish your first product

1. Choose New print-on-demand product — it’s in the Printify section, and under Content items.
2. Give it a Name. The Web address fills itself in.
3. Under Design, upload your artwork. Printify prints it in the middle of the front. To move or resize it, adjust the product in Printify afterwards — Stratafold leaves it where you put it.
4. Under Printed on, choose what it goes on. With only one thing to print on, you can leave it empty.
5. Write the Description, or let the AI draft it (below).
6. Set the Price (smallest size): the price of the cheapest one to make. Bigger sizes cost more by what they cost Printify more to make, so a 3XL doesn’t eat your margin.
7. Choose Publish.

Stratafold makes the product in Printify and asks Printify to publish it to your store. The Publish elsewhere panel on the product shows how it’s going and, if Printify refuses, why — fix it and choose Try again.

Changing or taking down a product

• Change the name, description or price and publish again: the Printify product is updated in place.
• The design and what it’s printed on stay as they were first made. To change them, make a new product.
• Unpublish deletes the product Stratafold made in Printify. Check your store afterwards: what happens to its listing is up to Printify and the store.
• While Printify is still busy publishing, Stratafold waits and tries again by itself.

Keep print-on-demand apart from your other products

If you also sell things you make and send yourself, keep those as Product and list them on Etsy directly — see Sell on Etsy. Print-on-demand products go through Printify only. That way nothing is listed twice, and every Printify order reaches the printer.

Where AI saves you time

• Write the words: in Content items, choose Generate with AI, pick Print-on-demand product and describe the design in a sentence. The AI drafts the name and description in your voice. It never invents prices, so add the price and the design yourself.
• Try out artwork: beside Design, Make a picture with AI creates an image from a description. It’s good for trying ideas. Before you sell one, open the product in Printify and check it will print sharply: a picture made for screens can be too small for print.
• Tell people: once it’s published, Share on social media → Write my posts writes a post for each network.

If something goes wrong

• “Printify refused Stratafold’s access token” — part of the token was missed when copying, or it has expired. Make a new one and connect again.
• “Your Printify token can’t see Printify’s catalog” — the token was made without catalog access. Make a new one with access to shops, catalog, products and uploads, and connect again.
• “Printify charges … to make the cheapest size” — your price is below what Printify charges you to make it. Raise it and publish again. Nothing is left behind in Printify.
• “Printify needs a product with a price and a photo” — add the design and a price, and publish again.
• “Choose what this is printed on” — you have more than one thing to print on; choose one in Printed on.
• After a year the token runs out. Make a new one and connect again; your products stay as they are.
